Driver cited following mishap on Highway 34

Henry County Sheriff?s Office deputies investigated a two-vehicle collision Oct. 24 in the 1200 grid of U.S. Highway 34, which resulted in a citation filed against one of the drivers.

According to the accident report, a 2009 Ford, operated by Casey McCann of Mt. Pleasant, struck the back of a 2014 Dodge pickup, while McCann was eastbound on Highway 34. The impact caused the truck, operated by Colby Newman of Mt. Pleasant, to go into the median and approach westbound oncoming traffic.

McCann was cited for failure to maintain control.

McCann?s 2009 Ford was estimated to be a total loss. Damages to the 2014 Dodge were estimated at $6,000.

There were no injuries reported in the accident.

The Henry County Sheriff?s Office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Transportation, Henry County Ambulance and the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department.
