Driver has to be extricated from vehicle after mishap
A Mt. Pleasant woman had to be extricated from her vehicle following an accident Sept. 26 in the 800 block of West Washington Street, in Mt. Pleasant.
According to the police report, a 2005 Kia, driven by Carmen Alejandro, of Mt. Pleasant, was westbound on West Washington Street and attempted to turn left into the O?Reilly Auto Parts parking lot.

A Mt. Pleasant woman had to be extricated from her vehicle following an accident Sept. 26 in the 800 block of West Washington Street, in Mt. Pleasant.
According to the police report, a 2005 Kia, driven by Carmen Alejandro, of Mt. Pleasant, was westbound on West Washington Street and attempted to turn left into the O?Reilly Auto Parts parking lot.
The Kia turned in front of an eastbound 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Grace Bittle. The Jeep struck the Kia broadside and the Kia rolled onto its driver?s side.
The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and Henry County Health Center (HCHC) Ambulance responded to the scene. Alejandro was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated by fire department personnel and transported via ambulance to HCHC with possible injuries.
Both vehicles were considered a total loss. Alejandro was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.
The police department was assisted at the scene by the Henry County Sheriff?s Department and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
