A two-vehicle accident April 13 at the intersection of East Washington and South Prairie streets in Mt. Pleasant resulted in total damage of $8,000 to the vehicles involved.
According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department?s accident report, a 2002 Ford Taurus, driven by Michelle Lynn Nelson, 42, of Burlington, was westbound on Washington Street and attempting to turn left into Hy-Vee Gas when it turned in front of an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Lillian Bloom, of Mt. Pleasant. Bloom attempted to avoid contact but was unable to, and struck the Nelson vehicle.
Nelson was cited for failure to have a valid license, failure to have insurance and failure to yield upon a left turn. No injuries were reported.
The police department was assisted with traffic control by the Henry County Sheriff?s Office and the Iowa State Patrol. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Breuer?s Towing.
