Driver sent for treatment following collision in MP
Officers from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department were summoned April 8 to the intersection of North Main and Mill streets for a report of a two-vehicle accident.
It was determined that while a 2009 Toyota Highlander, owned and operated by Thuy (Tina) Pham, of Mt. Pleasant, was stopped at the stop sign facing east on Mill Street at the intersection, a school stop sign also was in the middle of the intersection.

Officers from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department were summoned April 8 to the intersection of North Main and Mill streets for a report of a two-vehicle accident.
It was determined that while a 2009 Toyota Highlander, owned and operated by Thuy (Tina) Pham, of Mt. Pleasant, was stopped at the stop sign facing east on Mill Street at the intersection, a school stop sign also was in the middle of the intersection.
A 2003 Chrysler 300M, owned and operated by Federico Montiel Barrientos, of Mt. Pleasant, was stopped at the stop sign facing south. Barrientos? car did not move.
Pham?s vehicle left from a stopped position and turned north onto Main Street and turned directly into Barrientos? vehicle, striking it in the front end.
Pham stated that she did not see Barrientos? car and ran into it. A witness at the scene confirmed Pham?s statement.
Pham had a minor injury and was transported to the Henry County Hospital to be treated.
Damage to Barrientos? car was estimated at $5,000. Pham?s vehicle sustained $3,000 in damages.
Pham was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
Mt. Pleasant Police were assisted at the scene by the Henry County Ambulance and Breuer Towing.
