Drunk man found in Wayland garage
Apr. 19, 2021 2:35 pm
An intoxicated man was found passed out in the garage of a Wayland residence. On Saturday at approximately 2:43 a.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the 400-block of West Main Street that someone was attempting to break into a residence.
The responding deputies found Jerome Paul Watson, 27, of Winfield passed out on the garage floor.
After an investigation, it was found that Watson and other individuals had been invited over to the residence earlier in the night. Watson created an incident and was escorted away from the residence by friends, only to return highly intoxicated, according to the police report.
An alteration occurred outside the residence when attempting to get Watson to leave. He returned once more and allegedly broke into the residence through the garage without permission, according to deputies.
Watson was arrested and taken to the Henry County Health Center for a medical screening to ensure he was safe for incarceration. While at the hospital, he became uncooperative and combative toward a deputy. This resulted in Watson being physically restrained.
Watson was later taken to the Henry County Jail without further incident. He was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct — fighting or violent behavior, domestic abuse assault — first offense, and Interference with official acts. All charges are simple misdemeanors.
The paramedics from the Henry County Health Center along with Wayland First Responders assisted with this incident.
