Druzilla Clark Educators Foundation to hold awards banquet May 13
Apr. 25, 2022 12:00 am
FAIRFIELD — The public is invited to attend the Sixth Annual Awards Presentation of the Druzilla Clark Educators Foundation on Friday, May 13.
The event honors first-year teachers in the Fairfield and Cardinal school districts, and names a “Teacher of the Year” in both districts for outstanding service to their students. The Foundation will distribute $29,000 to these teachers.
Festivities will begin at the Elk Grove School on the Greater Jefferson County Fairgrounds at 4:30 p.m. that day with a brief presentation of the history of Druzilla Clark and her relationship to the one-room schoolhouse.
The celebration will continue at the Fairfield Country Club, with social time beginning at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the awards program. Reservations for the dinner must be made by May 4 by calling the Board’s Publicity Committee of Ron Hunerdosse at 641-919-4181 or Jim Edgeton at 641-919-3343. Attendees will have a choice of meals between: pork stuffed with asiago, fontina, Parmesan cheese and asparagus with a roasted red potato and veggie medley; and Tuscan chicken pasta, garlic cream based, with sun dried tomatoes and spinach.
The Druzilla Clark Educators Foundation was begun by a young man who had Mrs. Clark as his elementary teacher many years ago. Mrs. Clark stayed connected with the donor through his school years and on throughout his life and career. Because she helped him so much throughout his life, he promised he would do something very significant in her name to help other educators become successful and significant in the lives of their students as Mrs. Clark did with him.
The primary goal of the donor is to help seek out and promote high quality educators in both the Fairfield and Cardinal schools.
The foundation’s donor wants to honor today’s dedicated teachers and encourage them toward excellence in the teaching profession.
The donor stated, “Teachers touch so many lives each year in both small and large ways. Teachers are the front lines of our future.”
The donor hopes that the community does its part to support the foundation, too. Donations large or small are appreciated.
