Duck causes power outage in Mason City
MASON CITY (AP) ? Utility officials say it was a duck that caused a brief power outage for more than 400 customers in Mason City on Friday.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that a southwestern segment the city in north-central Iowa was without power for nearly an hour.
Alliant Energy spokesman Ryan Stensland says power went out Friday around 9 p.m., as night was falling. It was restored just before 10 p.m.
Mason City firefighters also were called to the scene to extinguish a small grass fire caused when the power line fell.
Firefighters reported finding a dead duck at the scene.
