Easter Sunday is quickly approaching. People will be get together to celebrate the holiday with their friends and relatives, and many will find outdoor activities now that spring has arrived. Washington resident Catfish Keith said that he is excited to get in his garden.
?I?m raking and playing with my flowers,? said Keith. ?I grow vegetables, and I love to see the new sprouts come up. We have daffodils, tulips and crocuses already blooming.?
Keith said he had not yet made any plans for Easter. He and his wife Penny just got back into town a few days ago after spending three months in Mexico. The two of them spent their time in a city called Puerto Escondido, which is on the Pacific Ocean in southern Mexico. Keith is a blues singer and guitar player, and performed a number of shows in Mexico. Keith much prefers to spend his winter down South rather than to suffer through snow and ice in Iowa.
?That part of Mexico is very tropical,? he said. ?It was 70 at night and 85 during the day. That?s a big reason why we go down there. The winter gets awfully long here.?
Keith said that his favorite part about Easter is that it marks the arrival of springtime.
?It is a sign of rebirth, and a signal that it?s time for everything to grow again,? he remarked.
