Edward A. ?Ed? Kiesey, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, in Golden, Colo., while visiting family.
A memorial funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 910 East Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Michael R. Scudder will officiate. Edward A. ?Ed? Kiesey, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, in Golden, Colo., while visiting family.
A memorial funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 910 East Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Michael R. Scudder will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mt. Pleasant. The family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening.
Kiesey was born Jan. 11, 1948, in Washington, the son of Donald Ernest and Mary Louise (Bean) Kiesey. He grew up in Washington until his high school days when his family moved to Mt. Pleasant, where his father established Home Furniture. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1966. Kiesey graduated from the University of Iowa in 1971, earning bachelor degrees in business and psychology.
In 1971, Kiesey married Linda Boyd. She preceded him in death. He then married Sheila Carolyn Madison on July 24, 1982, at Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant.
After college, Kiesey sold grain dryers for two years before returning to Mt. Pleasant to work at Home Furniture. In 1984, he purchased the business from his father. During that time, he was also the manager for several apartments and maintained a rural Sunday paper route for the Des Moines Register. Kiesey sold the furniture business in 2010. He continued to own several buildings in town, and refurbished the former Veterans Club into retail space.
Kiesey was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing pinochle.
Kiesey is survived by his wife Sheila, of Mt. Pleasant; three sons, Jason Kiesey, of Des Moines; Joshua (Amber) Kiesey, of Golden, Colo.; Joel Kiesey, of Boulder, Colo.; two grandchildren; one brother, Kent (Sam Lisuzzo) Kiesey, of Chicago, Ill.; and one sister, Dianna (Mike) Penrod, of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
