FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Community School District has released the final list of people who are running for seats on the Fairfield Community School District Board of Directors.
Eight people have filed to run for the district’s five open seats, and only one incumbent is filing for re-election, meaning there will be a number of new faces on the board after the Nov. 7 election.
The five open seats on the board currently belong to John McKerley, Margo Von Strohuber, board president Christi Welsh, Tim Bower and Frank Broz. Broz was appointed to fill the empty seat left by Kelly Scott after Scott stepped down in July because of a family move. Broz told the board he wished only to serve the remaining three months until the November election, and did not want to remain on the board after that.
Deborah Williamson is the only candidate on the ballot who is running to fill the final two years of Scott’s seat. All other candidates are seeking the normal four-year terms.
Bower is the only incumbent who is seeking re-election to the board. The other six candidates are Theresa Tuvera, David Eastburn, Mark Thornton, Christie Kessel, Meghan Dowd Robbins and Nate Weaton.
Welsh had initially put her name on the list of candidates running, but withdrew it before the list was finalized, meaning her name will not appear on the November ballot.
