A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 3, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Riverside. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. RIVERSIDE ? Eileen Marie Schneider, 81, of Riverside, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at her home.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 3, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Riverside. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Following committal services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary?s Parish Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside, with a 4 p.m. rosary service. Memorials may be directed to the St. Mary?s Catholic Church or Iowa City Hospice.
Mrs. Schneider was born Aug. 23, 1935, the daughter of William and Mary (Cooney) O?Brien. She married William ?Bill? Leroy Schneider on Feb. 27, 1954, in Iowa City.
She was a 1953 graduate of Iowa City High School. She raised her family and helped on the farm. Later in life she worked as a nurse at Pleasantview Home. She was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary, K.U.B. Card Club, and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed playing cards, family get-togethers, attending her grandchildren?s events, and spending time with her friends and family.
Surviving are five children, Karen Becker and husband John of The Villages, Florida, Carol Flansburg and husband Rex of Riverside, Linda Marie and husband Tom of Washington, Rich Schneider and wife Bev of Riverside, and Mary Kay Downes and husband Mike of Oxford; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Cleola Schneider of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William, on Aug. 5, 1993; three brothers, Edwin, Eugene, and John; and two sisters, Rosemary Miller, and Kathleen Young.
