Eldon man charged with burglary

ELDON ? The Wapello County Sheriff?s Office was notified on Wednesday of a burglary at a rural Wapello County residence.

During the preliminary stages of the investigation, information was discovered that led to a search warrant being conducted at 703 W. Walnut St., Eldon, at the Nicholas Ballard residence.

Ballard, 33, was charged with second-degree burglary after Wapello County sheriff?s deputies found evidence in the home associated with the burglary as well as other stolen items from Eldon and Jefferson County. Additional search warrants were obtained to seize the stolen property.

Ballard is being held in the Wapello County Jail and his bond is set at $10,000. Additional charges are anticipated in connection with the investigation.

Assisting the Wapello County Sheriff?s Office in the investigation were the Eldon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office.
