BRIGHTON — After 12 years in the position, City Council Member Chuck Emry completed his last meeting with the municipal government Monday night.
“It’s been an honor,” Emry said. “It’s been wonderful to serve and I’ve learned so much by sitting at this table, and I encourage everybody I talk to, I encourage them to get involved because you won’t believe the stuff you’ll learn.”
Emry will be replaced by Council Member-elect David McArtor.
While he lost the bid for re-election, Emry said health complications made his departure well-timed.
“I’m deeply honored and I’ve enjoyed it very very much,” he said. “It’s just time to concentrate on other stuff. It adds too much time, (there’s) not enough time to do the city business like I should, so it was time to step down for a little bit.”
Other city officials wished Emry well on his way out.
“We appreciate the last 12 years you’ve put in,” Mayor Melvin Rich said. “Best of luck.”
Emry moved to adjourn the meeting, a motion that passed unanimously.
