Energage names MidWestOne Bank a winner of two 2021 top workplace awards

In March of this year, MidWestOne Bank announced it has earned the 2021 Top Workplaces USA and Financial Services Industry awards, issued by Energage, a purpose-driven organization that develops solutions to build and brand top workplaces.

This is the inaugural year for Top Workplaces USA, built on the program’s 14-year history surveying more than 20 million employees across 54 markets for the regional top workplaces awards.

“This is a great honor. Our culture at MidWestOne is very important to us,” said Chief Executive Officer Charlie Funk. “We strive to hire people who believe in our culture. It is these people who produce the results that satisfy our four key constituencies; our customers, employees, communities, and shareholders.”

Top Workplaces USA offers national recognition for large organizations, those with more than 150 employees, and those that may have operations in multiple markets.

Several thousand organizations from across the country were invited, and more than 1,100 participated in the Top Workplaces USA survey.

Winners of the Top Workplaces USA list are chosen based solely on anonymous employee feedback gathered through an employee engagement survey, issued by Energage.

Results are calculated by comparing the survey’s research-based statements, including 15 Culture Drivers that are proven to predict high performance against industry bench marks.

According to Funk, “For 86 years, our mission statement has been to ‘take care of our customers and those who should be’. This and our five Operating Principles (take good care of our customers, hire and retain excellent employees, always conduct yourself with the utmost integrity, work as one team, learn constantly so we can continuously improve) continue to define our culture. We are grateful for our more than 750 employees who believe in this mission and model our core principles.”

For the eighth straight year MidWestOne has been awarded a Top Workplace Award in Iowa by the Des Moines Register.

For two out of the last three years, MidWestOne was named a Top Workplace in the Twin Cities by the Star Tribune.

This year, Energage announced that MidWestOne earned a 2021 National Top workplaces USA Award for strong cultural engagement and morale.
