MT. PLEASANT - The Enhance Henry County Community Foundation has been awarded a $108,610 state award from the County of Endowment Fund.
The fund, created in 2004 through legislative measures, provides financial support for the 'creation and development of community foundations and civic philanthropy throughout Iowa.”
In a news release from Enhance Henry County, the foundation states it will direct 75 percent of the award to 'foundation grantmaking activities.” The remaining part of the award will be added to the foundation's permanent endowment, which is currently $521,301.
'This allocation ratio provides the opportunity to assist local projects immediately as well as help build an endowment for the future of the county,” the release notes.
Since 2004, the foundation has awarded over $1,390,000 in grants to over 58 charities which have helped leverage over $10,000,000 in projects for Henry County.
'We are anxious to put this new state award to work. Our foundation is making good headway and we hope this contribution will help encourage local interest and investment,” Robert Meyer, Enhance Henry County Community foundation chairman, said in a statement.
Those with questions about contributions and grantmaking or are interested in requesting an application from the foundation can contact foundation administrator Lora Roth at 319-385-8728 or lora@kilj.com.
