Extensive damage caused to Washington business by weekend fire
May. 28, 2019 11:32 am
A business owner estimates nearly $1 million worth of damage caused by a fire over the weekend at Washington Ag Supply Inc.
The Washington Fire Department was called to the scene of a structure fire at 702 E. Fourth Street on Saturday, May 25, at 8:50 p.m.
Mark Peck, owner of Washington Ag Supply Inc. said the fire was started by wiring that caught fire and set the building ablaze. No one was injured in the fire.
He estimated crews were on scene for several hours and that the damage could cost up to $1 million. Three rigs were lost in the fire as well as everything in the storage area of the building. The back part of the building has a protective firewall that stopped the fire from causing extensive damage to the office space.
'We'll get it fixed, but it will take time,” he said.
The Washington Fire Chief was unavailable for comment at the time of press.
The Washington Fire Department, the Ainsworth Fire Department and the Washington Police Department all responded.
