The list of candidates is set for this November’s election for Fairfield City Council.
This year’s ballot will feature three contested races and three uncontested races.
Mayor Connie Boyer is seeking a third term, and she will be challenged by Edward Noyes. Noyes previously ran for mayor in 2019, the year that Boyer defeated Michael Halley in a runoff election that prompted a hand recount, which Boyer won by two votes.
Another contested race is the at-large seat currently held by Katy Anderson, who is not seeking re-election. City council member Elizabeth Estey is running for the seat, and she currently occupies the fourth ward seat. However, Estey announced in September that she would have to vacate her fourth ward seat because she was moving out of the ward. Also running for the at-large seat is Aiddy Phomvisay, the Fairfield High School Principal.
Two contestants have thrown their hat in the ring to fill Estey’s open seat in the fourth ward, and they are Matthew Rowe and Curtis Oliver.
For the three uncontested races, Terri Kness is the only candidate running for the first ward seat, currently held by Martha Rasmussen. Incumbent Judy Ham is the only candidate running for third ward, and incumbent Tom Twohill is the only candidate running for fifth ward.
Residents can contact the Jefferson County Auditor’s Office to learn which ward they live in and where they will vote in November. Roughly, the fourth ward includes downtown Fairfield, the first ward covers the east side of town, the second ward covers the north side, the third ward covers the west side, and the fifth ward covers the south side.
