Fairfield Area Community Theatre (FACT) will present Disney’s Freaky Friday, A New Musical June 12-15 in the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center.
According to the production team, Betsie Wotherspoon (co-director), Noel Wotherspoon (co-director / choreographer), Jim Edgeton (music director), and Rachel Biggs (Stage Manager), auditions will be held in the Fairfield High School auditorium on Sunday, March 9 at 2:00 PM and Monday, March 10 at 6:30 PM.
Auditions are open to current 9th grade students through adults of all ages. In addition to many main characters, the story features a large chorus of teens and adults who are high school students, teachers, community members, employees, parents, and grandparents. The one exception for student auditions is the part of the younger brother, whose age range can be nine years to a young teen with an unchanged voice.
Anyone interested in participating in the summer musical but unable to attend either audition date, contact one of the directors.
Freaky Friday A New Musical, is based on the beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films. Bridget Carpenter, co-executive producer and writer of the TV hits, "Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood" wrote the book. Music and lyrics are by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, the Pulitzer Prize-winning composers of Next to Normal and If/Then. An updated script and contemporary music make this an engaging, modern, relatable story. When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right.
According to Music Theatre International, the story is a “heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other's shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another's struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter”.
Advance audition materials will be available soon on the FACT Facebook page: (https://www.facebook.com/FairfieldAreaCommunityTheatre/)
