FAIRFIELD — The Kenny Norton Southeast Iowa Farm Show returned to the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center this past Saturday, March 4.
This was the eighth year for the show, which has become one of Iowa’s top ag expos, featuring the latest in machinery, seed technology, grain handling, and more.
Lindsay Bauer, Executive Director of the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, said the turnout was great for this year’s farm show, with about 700 attendees.
“We got a huge response. It was so successful,” Bauer said. “This is about double what we saw last year.”
Bauer said all 43 booths in the expo hall were full of vendors, which prompted her to contemplate expanding the number of slots for next year’s farm show.
“About 25 percent of our vendors had never been with us for a farm show, and they’re all saying they want to come back,” Bauer said.
Sponsors and exhibitors in agri-businesses throughout Southeast Iowa showcased their latest technology. Lunch was provided by the Jefferson County Pork Producers.
“The Pork Producers sold out right on time, which was great because we didn’t have to turn anyone away,” Bauer said.
The family-friendly event also hosted attractions for children throughout the day, and kids got the thrill of seeing farm machinery up-close that was parked outside the arts center.
The sponsors for this year’s farm show were Jefferson County Farm Bureau, Pilot Grove Savings Bank, BASF Ag Solutions, Heartland Co-op, Libertyville Savings Bank, Fairfield Precast Concrete, and Hammes Vermeer LLC.
