FAIRFIELD – Outdoor concerts have returned to the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, which hosted its first one of the summer when The Riverdogs took the stage on Thursday, June 27.
The Fairfield-based band featured Bonnie Van Buskirk on vocals, George Foster on bass, Randy Walker on guitar, Ken Burns on saxophone, Kevin Riley on blues harp and Matt Mazza on drums. North Main Street was closed so the band could perform there while members of the public brought lawn chairs to sit in. Those who couldn’t resist the urge to move joined dozens of others who danced in front of the stage.
The summer concert series will feature a different musical act every other Thursday through Aug. 8, and all of the acts are from Iowa, something that was important to FACC Executive Director Lindsay Bauer. All concerts in the series are free and open to the public, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The remaining acts in the series are as follows:
July 11 - Royce Johns
Prepare to be transported to the heart of classic country as Royce Johns takes the spotlight. With a voice that resonates with authenticity and passion, this Des Moines-based artist is sure to captivate audiences.
July 25 - Jenny Sammons
Get ready to groove to the smooth and sunny tunes of Jenny Sammons, a Fairfield gem known for her soulful performances that warm the heart and lift the spirit.
August 8 - Winterland
Closing out the series with a special treat, Fairfield Arts & Convention Center is proud to present Winterland, featuring the music of The Grateful Dead. Presented in partnership with KMCD's Live on the Square, this Iowa City-based band will take concertgoers on a nostalgic journey with their timeless tunes and infectious energy.
