MOUNT PLEASANT ? The Mount Pleasant bowling team had just enough at the end to beat the Fairfield girls and more than enough the whole way to upend the Trojans boys Saturday.
On their home lanes, the Panthers squeaked out a 2397-2386 victory in the girls match while the boys rolled to a 3152-2507.
Nicci Mellott rolled her first every 200 game on her way to a 336 series and Sam Ruckman added a 318 series thanks to a 199 game to give the Trojans a lead coming out of round one. But open frames popped up in the round two baker games and Mount Pleasant mounted its comeback.
Amanda Francy struck out the 10th frame in the final game to put Mount Pleasant on top of the back-and-forth match.
?The score was tight the whole way, and it came down to the very last game. We had our chances, but unfortunately ended up on the short end,? said Fairfield head coach Lisa Greenig.
Amanda Chatfield had the high series for the Trojans in round one with games of 189 and 182 to make for a 371 series. Alyssa Chatfield added a 304.
The Fairfield boys fell to a Mount Pleasant team that was the benefactor of a combined six 200 games. On the flip side, Fairfield only received one ?a 222 from Jeff Keller.
