FAIRFIELD – The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch and Learn with Bob Ferguson Wellness on Tuesday, Aug. 22.
The program will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the chamber’s conference room at 204 W. Broadway Ave. In the event of a large crowd, the event will move to the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. Guests are invited to bring their own lunch. To RSVP, email info@fairfieldiowa.com.
This Lunch and Learn, led by Fairfield resident Bob Ferguson, will focus on how having a staff of healthy employees translates into greater productivity. Ferguson will share his knowledge of nutrition, exercise and mental health fitness that have a positive impact on organizations.
“There’s a great deal of evidence that 7 percent of the U.S. population suffers from depression, and 19 percent from anxiety,” Ferguson said. “This impacts their capacity to communicate, to relate to other people and to basically do their job, particularly if they’re knowledge workers.”
Ferguson will spend part of the Lunch and Learn reviewing a program he did at Iowa State Bank, where one-third of its employees followed a nutrition program involving a cleanse and follow-up. The event will be interactive, too, so guests should be prepared to fill out an assessment tool on their phone about mental health.
“This will be an experiential learning process. You’re not just sitting there being talked at,” Ferguson said. “This assessment surprises the heck out of people.”
Ferguson will discuss the benefits of exercise and offer guests an app that Shaklee has created, made by one of the top trainers in Boston.
“You’ve got the trifecta of nutrition, physical exercise, and mental and emotional fitness, which is a tall order for a 45-minute talk,” Ferguson said.
