FAIRFIELD – The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Treasure Hunt Weekend this Friday and Saturday, July 19-20.
The event promises bargains and treasures featuring retail sales and citywide garage sales. A map of the participating retail stores and garage sales is available at the chamber office, and at participating retailers.
“This map will ensure that no treasure goes unfound and will help shoppers plan their route for maximum enjoyment,” stated a news release from Chamber Executive Director Mendy McAdams.
As an extra incentive to get people to come out, McAdams will give away three $50 chamber buck checks to shoppers who post a picture on social media from one of the participating venues and include the hashtag #treasurehuntweekend. McAdams said that she’ll be able to search this hashtag on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok to ensure that everyone who completes this task is entered in the drawing to win one of the chamber buck checks.
McAdams said that this citywide garage sale used to be a fundraiser for Relay for Life, but the organization stopped doing it after COVID, so the chamber became the organizer to keep it going.
McAdams said participating businesses are offering exclusive discounts and special promotions for this weekend.
“From unique boutiques to popular shops, shoppers can expect to find great deals on a wide range of products,” she said. “Participating stores will have special signage and extended hours to accommodate the influx of shoppers.”
Just as she has in the past, McAdams will don her pirate costume and post a photo and video from every venue on the map.
