The Fairfield Community Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday to inaugurate its new sign indicating the change in its name. Until this year, the building was formerly known as the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center. Pictured are, from left, Alice Merrill, Mary Grimes, Linda Messerli, Ralph Messerli, Max Giles, Ginny Hughes, Francis Horn, Erin Clubb, Chris Conklin, Alyisa Gire (holding Tavian Gire) and Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce Director Darien Sloat. The Fairfield Community Center hosts congregate meals five days a week. The organization makes money by renting the upstairs and the basement to groups such as Weight Watchers, Fairfield Farmers Market and one-time rentals for events like weddings and family reunions.
