The Fairfield Community Orchard Committee invites the public to participate in an apple harvest from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13.
The orchard is located east of Chautauqua Park, and volunteers can park at the bottom of the hill inside the park, then walk across the bridge to the orchard. Volunteers are needed to harvest apples to donate to The Lord’s Cupboard and Golden Magnolia Sanctuary’s Community Kitchen.
Volunteers are asked to bring a hat, water, gloves, closed toe shoes, sunscreen, and containers to bring fruit home in.
“We will have several ladders, fruit picking poles and harvesting aprons,” said orchard co-founder Avi Pogel. “Feel free to bring short step ladders and step stools and any harvest gear you have.”
