The Fairfield 14U Crush softball team caught fire in May, recently winning 14 times in a 15-game span after opening the season with a 2-4 record.
The local team won its first tournament in Fairfield, where it upped its record to 5-4. The girls subsequently went to Washington on May 12 and won another tournament with three victories.
Their next stop was Iowa City, where they went 2-1 to bring their season record to 10-5. The Crush then capped their excellent month at their first USSSA tournament in Oskaloosa May 19. The girls won all six games to bring home the first-place trophy.
In addition, the Fairfield 14U Crush won two out of six games at an April 6 tourney in Des Moines. Three of the four losses were decided by very close margins.
The Crush are off until hitting up more local tournaments in June. They are currently preparing for the 14A ASA Nationals to be held in Nevada, Iowa, in August.
