Fairfield dairy farm to be featured
FAIRFIELD ? Practical Farmers of Iowa will host a field day Saturday, Aug. 27 from 1-4 p.m. at the Francis and Susan Thicke farm near Fairfield.
This free event will include a wagon tour of the Thicke farm?s 60-paddock grazing system and a walk through of their on-farm dairy processing facilities.

FAIRFIELD ? Practical Farmers of Iowa will host a field day Saturday, Aug. 27 from 1-4 p.m. at the Francis and Susan Thicke farm near Fairfield.
This free event will include a wagon tour of the Thicke farm?s 60-paddock grazing system and a walk through of their on-farm dairy processing facilities.
Emphases of the field day will be on the renwable energy systems in place and planned for the farm, as well as a general discussion of potential systems to make Iowa farms energy self-sufficient.
The Thickes have a 450-acre, 80-cow, organic grass-based dairy farm.
