Fairfield declares snow emergency

A snow emergency will be in effect for the Central Business District in Fairfield beginning at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29.
On street parking is prohibited between 2nd Street to B Street and from Washington Avenue to Hempstead Avenue between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m., lasting until 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 31 (48 hours) or until the street is plowed curb to curb.
The declaration of a snow emergency means that any vehicle parked in the aforementioned areas during this period will be in violation and can be towed by the city of Fairfield. Residents are advised to park their vehicles in an appropriate spot not designated by one of these signs during this time.
