Fairfield?s community Easter egg hunt is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Chautauqua Park.
Hundreds of colorful plastic eggs filled with candy, prizes and notes to be redeemed for larger prizes will be hidden in the park.
?We have plenty of prizes,? said Derik Wulfekuhle, Fairfield Park and Recreation director, listing savings bonds, $25 to open children?s saving accounts, discount coupons, candy and more donated by local businesses and residents.
The park will be divided into sections for different age groups: prekindergarten and younger; kindergarten and first graders; second and third graders; fourth and fifth graders; sixth, seventh and eighth graders; ?and everybody older than eighth grade is an adult,? said Wulfekuhle.
The adult category is a new element added to the Easter egg hunt this year so they can participate in the fun, too, continued Wulfekuhle.
Wulfekuhle reminded drivers that Chautauqua Park will not be open for vehicle traffic or parking so they will need to park on side streets.
In the event of bad weather Saturday, the egg hunt will be postponed until 10 a.m. April 23.
After being hosted by the Fairfield Jaycees for more than 50 years, this year?s Easter egg hunt is hosted by Fairfield park and rec, with help from the Fairfield Kiwanis and Lions clubs and Elks lodge.
?We?re very excited about it,? said Wulfekuhle. ?It?s another opportunity and event park and rec can offer for the public to participate in.?
