The Fairfield Education Foundation has awarded $50,988.11 in grants to teachers and staff of the Fairfield Community School District.
The grants will fund various items to support educational and extracurricular activities across the district. This year, several large items projects received full funding, including a kiln for Pence Elementary and a laser projector for the high school auditorium.
“We are extremely grateful for the continued support of the Fairfield Education Foundation,” said Zach Wigle, Superintendent. “These generously funded grants enable us to provide items and experiences beyond the scope of our annual budget. We also extend our thanks to community members who have contributed to the education foundation. Your donations directly benefit our students and staff.”
To receive a grant, teachers and staff must submit an application detailing their request for materials or curricula. Applications are then reviewed by the foundation’s grants committee before funds are awarded.
This year, 30 grant applications were fully or partially funded. The approved grants span all grade levels within the district and will support nearly 1,500 students.
Organized in 1997, the Fairfield Education Foundation’s mission is to enhance learning opportunities, encourage creative and innovative educational programs, promote the utilization of current technologies, and encourage and increase community involvement in Fairfield schools.
Teacher grants are considered annually during the fall trimester and funded by the interest from endowment funds. The foundation also awards four graduating senior scholarships annually, including one renewable scholarship.
