The Fairfield Education Foundation has donated eclipse-viewing glasses for every student at the Fairfield Community School District to safely observe the eclipse on Monday, April 8.
“We are delighted to enhance the great work going on in our district with this donation,” said Fairfield Education Foundation board member Frank Broz. “Learning about Earth’s place in our solar system can feel a little abstract when it is confined to the classroom. This safety equipment will enable our teachers to guide students through direct observation of the eclipse.”
The 89% solar eclipse will be viewable from Southeast Iowa on Monday, April 8 from 12:44 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. The eclipse can be safely viewed using special ISO 12312-2:2105 eye protection, and should not be viewed with sunglasses or the naked eye.
“We deeply appreciate the generosity of the Fairfield Education Foundation in providing eclipse-viewing glasses for every student in our district,” said Interim Superintendent Stephanie Mishler. “This donation ensures student safety and enriches their learning experience, allowing them to witness firsthand the wonders of our solar system.”
The Education Foundation of Fairfield Public Schools, Inc. was organized in March 1997 and supports the tradition of excellence in education through the use of private revenues. You can contribute to projects like this at FairfieldEducationFoundation.com, or by contacting education.foundation@fairfieldsfuture.org.
The next opportunity to view a solar eclipse of this degree won’t occur again until August of 2044.
