The Fairfield swim and dive team dropped a 118-60 dual to Keokuk on Senior Night at the Roosevelt Aquatic Center in Fairfield.
The Trojans won four out of 13 events, with two victories coming from junior Baylee Bowman. Jade Greiner, a junior, and rookie diver Katherine Mueller had one win apiece.
Bowman led from start to finish in both the 100-freestyle and 100-backstroke. She finished nearly two seconds ahead of the runner-up in the freestyle (59.09) and eight ticks ahead of the second-place swimmer in the backstroke (1:05.59).
Greiner claimed first place in the 100-butterfly with a swim of 1:06.60, beating the nearest Keokuk swimmer by a half-second. Mueller continued to excel on the diving board, scoring 213 points and a victory in the 1-meter dive.
And while the victories were nice, head coach Lisa Greenig was just as pleased to see the continued time drops by Trojans.
?Even though we were outscored, we had some swimmers dropping times again this meet,? said Greenig. ?We are reaching a point in the season where it is becoming difficult to drop too much time at once.?
Junior Dorian Larson set her personal best by six seconds in the 200-freestyle, finishing third with a time of 2:32.84. The runner-up medley-relay team (2:17.70) of Hanna Kerr, Allison Angstead, Greiner and Bowman managed to cut three seconds of its previous best, and junior Lalita Martin shed four seconds from her previous best in the 100-breaststroke (1:35.71).
Runner-up individual finishes went to senior Jaci Bell in the 1-meter dive (197) and Greiner in the 200-individual medley (2:28.18). The 200-freestyle relay team of Bell, Mueller, Larson and Kerr finished second (2:13.89), as did the 400-freestyle relay team of Larson, Bowman, Angstead and Greiner.
The Trojans are off until Monday, when they will travel to Williamsburg.
