FAIRFIELD — Fairfield First Fridays Art Walk will move to the great outdoors this Friday for a night of music, food and art in Fairfield’s Central Park.
The event will run from 6-10 p.m., highlighted by live music courtesy of The Roman Cadillacs. While guests tap their toes to the Rock ‘n’ Roll of one of Fairfield’s finest bands, youngsters can spend the evening playing lawn games such as the giant Jenga and Connect Four. A gift from the Greater Jefferson County Foundation has allowed Art Walk to purchase giant foam blocks to play with, too.
In addition to the vendors who will line the sidewalks of Central Park, many downtown art galleries and businesses will be open, such as Americus Gallery, Art Fifty Two, Cindy’s ArtBeat, ICON Gallery, SOMM Wines, and Willow & Bright. Willow & Bright is hosting its one-year anniversary party from 5-8 p.m.
A couple of organizations have special programs planned for the evening. The Carnegie Historical Museum will host its monthly series on Heritage Farms of Jefferson County from 6-9 p.m. This month’s featured farm belongs to Claudia Worley. The series honors farms that have been in the same family for 150 years or more. Jefferson County has 14 farms which have received this recognition. Artifacts, photographs and information relating to the farm can be found in a special exhibit case.
The Fairfield Art Association will host a reception from 6-8 p.m. at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center for the opening of the gallery “Americana Paintings” by James Henry. Henry will give a talk at 7 p.m. The hallway gallery at the arts center will feature artwork from Robert Glocke, which he recently donated. Glocke was a founding member of the FAA in 1966.
