Fairfield High School all set for Homecoming Week

FAIRFIELD – Next week is Homecoming Week at Fairfield High School.
Students will enjoy fun activities and dress-up days all week long, from Monday, Sept. 30 until the big game on Friday, Oct. 4. The Trojans will host the Fort Madison Bloodhounds for the varsity football game. The theme of this year's homecoming is 'Trojans Unleashed.”
Following is a schedule of events for each day of the week.
Monday
Dress up theme: Pajama Day
The King and Queen Assembly will begin at 1:41 p.m. Electronic voting will begin during eighth hour.
The week kicks off with girls swimming vs. Tipton at 5 p.m. at the Roosevelt Aquatic Center. It is also the first day of float construction, which lasts until 9:30 p.m.
Tuesday
Dress up theme: Tie Dye/Neon Day
Junior varsity and varsity cross country teams travel to Washington at 4:30 p.m., while the volleyball team hosts Washington at 5:45 p.m. Float construction lasts until 9:30 p.m.
Wednesday
Dress up theme: Country/Farmer Day
This is the last night to build floats, which ends at 9:30 p.m.
Thursday
Dress up theme: Character Day
Classes will be dismissed early so the students can watch the Iron Man Volleyball Game at 1:55 p.m.
The Thursday Night Pep Rally begins at 6:30 p.m. in Trojan Stadium. It will feature a Powder Puff football game, a performance by the cheerleaders and the band, a pep talk by varsity head football coach Nate Weaton, and the crowning of this year's King and Queen at 8:15 p.m. Doing the honors will be last year's queen, Anatta Charoenkul. After the crowning, the students will do a torch run to set off the fireworks.
Friday
Dress up theme: Orange and Black Spirit Day
Students will be dismissed at 1:35 p.m. for the parade, which will begin at 2 p.m. at the high school and end at Central Park, followed by the Central Park Pep Rally. English teacher Fred Hucke will lead the rally, and the cheerleaders will perform their homecoming dance.
At Friday's pep rally, the winners of the float contest, candy contest and baby picture will be announced. The homecoming court will take center stage in the Ron Prill Bandstand. Coach Woody Orne will deliver the pep talk.
The varsity football game begins at 7 p.m. that night. There will not be a freshman game.
The homecoming dance will last from 9 p.m. to midnight. Student Council members will clean up after the dance.
