Twenty-three students from Fairfield High School were inducted as new members of the National Honor Society in a ceremony held at The Mitcheltree, Slechta, Edgeton Auditorium on Monday, December 16th. Members were selected by the chapter’s faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Seniors inducted: Paige Bisgard, Grace Lyon, and Shayla Palmer.
Juniors inducted: Bailey Belzer, Aja Dorothy, Alexis Eisenbraun, Tristen Garretson, Valerie Hernandez, Nicole Hunger, Phoenix Johnson, Kayla Karangi, Archer Kreuter, Iris Lane, Isabel McCready, Spencer McCready, Alexis Megrath, Poojita Mukadam, Andrew Myers, Emma Septer, Elyse Setterstrom, Christian Rasmussen, Caroline Van Pelt, and Pearl Winheim.
To become members of NHS, students must be juniors or seniors with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average. Students then complete an application, listing their activities, leadership roles, volunteer service hours completed, and an essay on character. All teachers are invited to nominate students for membership. Finally, a small committee of teachers chooses the members to be inducted, based on their nominations and completed applications.
During the ceremony chapter adviser Jake Engle noted the average GPA for the chapter is 3.85 and as a group the students have served over 1,300 community service hours.
The new members join last year’s inductees: Dylan Adam, Harmony Bailey, Lillian Bergren, Una Carter, Ella Holderbaum, Lucas Konczal, Cassidy Mallinger, Cason Miller, Josh Mineart, Laney Norris, Riley Perkins, Dre Smithburg, Haleigh Strickland, Gabe Tejada, and Emma Wendland
The National Honor Society was established in 1921. Its purpose is to recognize outstanding
