Jun. 3, 2022 1:20 pm
Fairfield Community School District announced Friday the hiring of Aiddy Phomvisay as the next principal at Fairfield High School. Phomivsay brings a wide range of experiences to the benefit of students, staff, and the community.
“Aiddy’s passion and commitment to building a strong sense of community and working collaboratively to meet the needs of all students set him apart in the search for our next principal,” said Dr. Laurie Noll, superintendent. “His vast experience serving a diverse population of students throughout Iowa will be a valuable asset to FCSD.”
Phomvisay's educational background includes serving as a social studies teacher in Ames, associate principal in West Des Moines, high school principal at Marshalltown, director of Central Campus for Des Moines Public Schools, and executive director of teaching and learning at Ottumwa Schools.
He was named the 2014 Iowa High School Principal of the Year for his leadership at Marshalltown High School. He has considerable experience in curriculum and instruction, innovative practices in work-based learning programs, and building community partnerships.
Upon learning of his hiring, Phomvisay said, “I’m honored to be part of the Trojan family and a community that’s so committed to our students and schools. I look forward to supporting Fairfield High School students and staff in their ongoing quest for educational, activity, and athletic excellence.”
Aiddy and his wife, Mindy, a music educator and choir director, will be relocating to Fairfield with their three children. The Phomvisays are looking forward to getting involved in the life and culture of Fairfield through music, art, and theater.
