Fairfield High School to host Veterans Day program

FAIRFIELD - Fairfield High School will host a Veterans Day program at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The program will follow the typical script of a welcome followed by Presentation of the Colors, National Anthem by FHS Choir, and Pledge of Allegiance by an FHS student.
Two students will be selected to recite and perform the Missing Man Table, representing soldiers who did not come home. The FHS Band will perform the marches to all branches of the military, and veterans in the audience will be recognized.
This year’s featured speaker is Maj. Chad Wallway.
According to Maj. Wallway’s biography, he was born in Portland, Oregon, and moved to Newton, Iowa, in 1999, where he later graduated from Newton Senior High School in 2005. He completed Army Basic Training and Military Police School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
In 2007, Maj. Wallway earned an associate’s degree and his commission as a Second Lieutenant through Wentworth Military Academy. He continued his education at the University of Northern Iowa, graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology.
Maj. Wallway has served in key leadership roles, including a 2012 deployment to Honduras as the Joint Security Forces Deputy Commander, Joint Task Force – Bravo, and a 2019 deployment to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he commanded the 186th Military Police Company and served as the Officer in Charge of Camp 6, Joint Task Force - Guantanamo. He has also served as the Iowa National Guard Mobilization Branch Chief, Force Integration and Readiness Officer, and Second Officer in Charge of the 67th Troop Command.
Currently, Maj. Wallway serves as the Executive Officer and Full-Time Officer in Charge of the 185th Combat Service Support Battalion. He is a graduate of the Army Military Police Basic Leadership Course, Army Logistics Captains Career Course, and the Army Command and General Staff College.
Maj. Wallway resides in Kalona, Iowa, with his wife, Alex, and their three daughters: Murphy, Halle, and Parker.
