The Fairfield Public Library announced Wednesday that masks will be required to enter the building, effective immediately.
“The decision to reinstate a mask mandate was made by library board members on Tuesday evening during a special board meeting in light of new recommendations by the Center for Disease Control recommending that even individuals fully-vaccinated wear masks indoors,” the library stated in a news release. “In recent weeks, Jefferson and its surrounding counties have seen a significant increase in positive COVID-19 tests.”
The library stated that this mandate has been put in place to slow the spread of the more highly-transmissible delta variant that has surged in much of the southern portion of the U.S., including Missouri.
The library will continue to offer curbside services to community members who may prefer not to enter the library.
All regular library services will continue, with adult and children’s programming meeting outdoors and in hybrid format, which means both in-person and online.
