FAIRFIELD – The Fairfield Lions Club will host its first spaghetti supper in three years on Tuesday, March 25.
The event, which runs from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Middle School, is a fundraiser for the Fairfield Community School District’s athletic and fine arts programs. Students in those programs will serve the meal, and members of the FHS Music Department will provide entertainment.
Bob Keller, who is a member of the Lions’ spaghetti supper committee along with Denise Hall and Dorian Atwood, said the last spaghetti supper in 2022 raised over $5,000, and the club hopes to surpass that figure this year.
“This will be the 15th year we’ve done it,” Keller said of the spaghetti supper. “It’s hard to believe we’ve done it so many years.”
The public can purchase their tickets for the supper for $10 from any Lions member or any high school student in athletics or fine arts. The menu includes spaghetti (with meat or without), salad, dessert and drinks.
The meal and entertainment will be accompanied by a silent auction and raffle. Keller said the Lions have been collecting raffle prizes from businesses around town, all of which have been generous in donating to the fundraiser.
“It’s definitely surpassed what it’s been in the past,” he said.
Keller said the last spaghetti supper served over 500 people, more than the Lions expected, and members had to run to the grocery store a few times to get more food. He said they’re preparing for 600 people this time around.
“We hope to have enough food for everybody,” Keller said.
The idea for a fundraising spaghetti supper began with former Fairfield Activities Director Brad Rose. Later, the Fairfield Lions Club took over the tradition of hosting the meal under the leadership of Lane Bush.
