Fairfield man arrested for sex abuse, harboring runaway

A 35-year old was arrested in Fairfield Monday morning, charged with third degree sexual abuse and harboring a runaway.

“Officers received a report of the defendant, Wayne Wickenkamp ... in Fairfield having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old,” a criminal complaint filed in Jefferson County said. “When asked about the juvenile, the defendant stated that he knew nothing of a runaway juvenile and denied that she was at the residence ... officers found (the juvenile) hiding in a closet.”

The minor admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol with Wickenkamp, according to the criminal complaint.

On Tuesday afternoon, Wickenkamp was released after paying his $10,000 bail and being given a no-contact order from the state to protect the juvenile, according to other court documents. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 15.
