Fairfield man charged with drug crimes
FAIRFIELD – A Fairfield man was arrested and charged with a slew of drug crimes Friday morning, Jan. 27.
Timothy Michael Carey Jr., 39, was arrested at his house in the 300 block of East Kirkwood Avenue in Fairfield at 10 a.m. after the Iowa Division of Narcotic Enforcement executed a search warrant there.
According to a news release from the Fairfield Police Department, officers seized a large quantity of marijuana in addition to methamphetamine, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms and firearms. Carey was charged with intent to deliver all those illegal substances, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a short barrel rifle and maintaining a dwelling where drugs are used or sold. All of those charges except the last one are felonies.
Carey was transported to the Jefferson County Correction Facility.
The Iowa Division of Narcotic Enforcement was assisted by the Southeast Iowa Inter Agency Drug Task Force, Iowa State Patrol, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Fairfield Police Department.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
