Fairfield resident Bob Krause today announced that he will file for the Democratic nomination for Iowa?s United States Senate seat currently held by Republican Chuck Grassley.
The filing will be with the Iowa Secretary of State in Des Moines and places him on the June 7 primary ballot.
Krause?s filing contains 9,761 signatures for all 99 counties. A total of 2,104 signatures are required to get on the primary ballot.
?I am proud to say that we are an all-Iowa campaign and the people of Iowa have responded,? Krause said in a press statement. ?I will continue to bring my message that we need people in Washington that want to restore a strong middle class in America. We need to refocus our policies to raise the minimum wage, restore the quality of working class wages, protect social security, improve veterans? services, and allow our young adults to become vibrant, productive members of our society. I am the only candidate that has made this the top priority.?
Krause is a veteran activist and president of the Veterans National Recovery Center, and works as a real estate developer in Fairfield. He and his wife Vicky are also part owners of a family farm. He is a former state representative from northwest Iowa and a former school board member from Waterloo.
Krause served with pride in the Administration of former president Jimmy Carter. He is author of a number of policy research books and is a retired colonel with service in the Army Reserve and National Guard. He resides with his wife in Fairfield, Iowa.
