The filing deadline for the Nov. 4 school board and city council races has come and gone, revealing that there will be a few contested races for Fairfield City Council but none for the Fairfield Community School Board.
Three people are running to be Fairfield’s mayor, and they are the incumbent Mayor Connie Boyer, first elected in 2019 and now seeking her fourth two-year term. The two challengers are Doug Flournoy, currently representing one of the at-large seats on the city council, and Rhonda Sanderson.
Three council seats are up for grabs, too, but only one of those is a contested race. Ward 2 representative Paul Gandy is running for re-election, and he is opposed by challenger Matthew W. Johnson. Bob Ferguson is running unopposed for Flournoy’s at-large seat, and incumbent Ward 4 representative Matthew Rowe is also running unopposed.
Voters in the Fairfield Community School District will fill three seats on the school board. Mark Porter is running for re-election, and Cody Freeman and Terry Wells are also seeking a seat. Current board members Tai Ward and Deborah Williamson are not seeking re-election.
