Fairfield officials investigating death of infant

FAIRFIELD — Law enforcement agencies in Fairfield and Jefferson County are investigating the death of an infant whose body was discovered Wednesday, June 8.
Jefferson County Attorney Chauncey Moulding said officers discovered a 4 1/2-month-old infant in Fairfield, and attempted resuscitative care on the infant. The infant was transported to the Jefferson County Health Center, but did not survive.
“The cause and nature of the death are still under investigation, which will not be complete until after an autopsy can be performed,” Moulding said.
