Fairfield pickleballers ring in new year with first game of 2025

With the ringing of a pickleball against paddles, determined players Tom Makeig, Ravi and Kari Bedi, and David Sands played pickleball outdoors Jan. 1 at Heritage Park in Fairfield.
Layered clothing and wool caps made the cold tolerable as the players rotated partners. The group prefers playing outdoors for the fresh air and good court surface. Only precipitation keeps this determined group, who started the year Jan. 29, off the courts.
“The ball sounds different in this cold,” said Sands, “but the game is played just as vigorously.”
