FAIRFIELD – Fairfield police arrested a man Saturday and say they found 33 pounds of methamphetamine and a loaded gun in his vehicle.
The man was Clinton Wynn of Ottumwa, who was pulled over that day by Fairfield Officer Robert Barker. Barker, a K-9 officer, had his police dog Cy sniff the vehicle. The dog signaled that there was a controlled substance inside.
Authorities seized the vehicle and through a search warrant found 33 pounds of methamphetamine in individually wrapped packages, according to a news release from Jefferson County Attorney Chauncey Moulding.
If sold at its street value of $50 per gram, this would be worth $750,000. Officers also found a loaded Glock firearm and more than $11,000 in cash.
Moulding indicated that Wynn had active warrants for felony weapons charges outside Jefferson County. Wynn was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine more than 5 kilograms, as well as weapons and tax-stamp felonies. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Moulding said that, on the methamphetamine charge alone, Wynn could be sentenced to 50 years in prison if found guilty.
