The Fairfield Police Department has confirmed that a body was discovered in the Fairfield Walmart parking lot, though the identity of the person is not being released at this time.
Fairfield Police Chief David Thomas said Walmart called authorities on Nov. 22 for a welfare check on a vehicle in its parking lot that hadn’t been moved in a long time. Upon investigation, officers discovered a body, and are treating it as an “unattended death investigation.”
The body found was the only person in the vehicle, and police are not releasing the name until family are notified.
“There is no threat to public safety or suspicion of a crime at this time,” Thomas told The Union on Monday, Dec. 1.
