FAIRFIELD – Educators in the Fairfield Community School District received a special treat Wednesday.
School Superintendent Laurie Noll and Fairfield Economic Development Association Executive Director Joshua Laraby visited all of the school buildings to distribute 320 Dilly Bars and thank you notes to the district’s educators.
Noll and Laraby said they wanted to show their appreciation to the teachers for the hard work they’ve put in during this most unusual school year.
FEDA and the Fairfield Manufacturers Association sponsors the annual Teacher of the Year awards, with each organization giving $1,000 raised from its golf outing. Laraby said there were funds left over this year, so the groups decided to show the district’s teachers how much they cared about them with a snack and a thank you note.
The note was designed specifically for this occasion, and includes the “One Fairfield” logo on it. It reads “We think you’re a ‘DILLY’ of a person.” Noll said not many people realize this, but dilly is a real word and means “delightful,” which describes both the district’s teachers and the tasty ice cream treat they got.
“We want to do a shout-out over the megaphone that teachers have done a dynamite job,” Noll said.
Laraby said FEDA and FMA want to show their support for teachers, too, because education is the foundation of a skilled workforce.
