FAIRFIELD – The Fairfield Community School District will begin its summer food program Monday, June 3.
The program will offer a week’s worth of breakfasts and lunches the district refers to as “grab and go meals.” Those who sign up for the program can pick up their meals (seven breakfast packages and seven lunch packages) between 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Monday, or from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Fairfield Middle School.
Fairfield Food & Nutrition Services Director Stephanie Hawkins said the meals are free and available to any child between the ages of 2-18. The student does not need to attend the Fairfield Community School District, nor do they need to live in Jefferson County. The only restriction is that the child’s parent or guardian pick up the meals.
“You will not be able to pick up for other children signed up if they are not in your household,” stated the district’s flyer advertising the program. “We will not deliver meals.”
Parents and guardians can sign up for the program on a weekly basis by visiting www.fairfieldsfuture.org and clicking on “Grab and Go Meals.” Sign up began on Tuesday, May 28.
Those with questions can call Hawkins at 641-472-2655 ext. 6703.
The summer food program will run for two months, ending on Aug. 4.
