Fairfield to hold one-time yard waste drop off Saturday morning, Sept. 7

The City of Fairfield has announced that it will allow residents to drop off their yard waste from 7-11:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at the city’s maintenance shed located at 1002 W. Jefferson Ave.

The council announced a few weeks ago that it was closing its compost site on South 20th Street due to too much abuse, so this will be a good opportunity for residents to get rid of their yard waste. The next opportunity will be the citywide brush pickup which will begin Oct. 7.

For this one-time event on Sept. 7, residents are asked to bring nothing larger than 8 inches in diameter or 8 feet in length. Leaves and grass clippings are accepted. Residents are limited to one pickup load (approximately 4x4x8 feet in dimensions).
